In 1999, the US Mint issued quarters celebrating the first five
states to join the union: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia and Connecticut. In 2000,
five new quarters will be released celebrating the states of Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New
|
Hampshire and Virginia.
The first quarter to be issued in 2001 will celebrate New York, then there will
be
a quarter celebrating North Carolina and Rhode Island.
New quarters will

be issued every year until 2008. As of September 2000, the newest quarter in circulation was the New Hampshire quarter.

Did you know that...
...there are about 2000 moose in Vermont?
Moose are responsible for a high number of car accidents in the state. In winter, moose trying to replenish their mineral reserves approach highways to lick the salt used to melt ice and snow. Because of their weight and size - some moose stand up to 2m at the shoulder and weigh around 700 kg - accidents involving moose are often fatal.
